The 850 Register is a community-driven resource for UK owners and fans of the Volvo 850 (1992-1997). Our aim is to help preserve, document, and celebrate these iconic vehicles by providing a self-service register, UK-specific statistics, and technical information.
About Me:
My name is Matthew Atkinson, based in Kettering. Since 2015, I've proudly owned a Volvo V70 T5 and have been deeply invested in the Volvo brand and community. My professional background is in IT, but my true inspiration comes from my lifelong passion for Volvosātheir engineering, heritage, and the people who love them.
The idea for this register began when I bought my daily driver, a C70 T5 (1999), and realised just how few of these cars were left on UK roads. I wanted to do something to help preserve them and connect owners, so I created the C70 register first. Seeing the need for a modern, central resource, I decided to expand the register to cover the other P80 modelsāthe 850, S70, and V70āsince there was little or nothing similar for the V70 or S70, and only scattered info and old registers for the 850. My goal was to put a modern spin on the old Excel sheets and handwritten registration lists, making it easier for owners to contribute and access information.
Creating this register is more than just a technical project for me; it's a personal mission. I am genuinely passionate about preserving these remarkable cars and building a resource that gives back to fellow owners and enthusiasts. Every detail of this site is driven by my commitment to accuracy, transparency, and the spirit of the Volvo community. I am inspired by the stories, dedication, and camaraderie of Volvo owners, and I want this site to reflect that same enthusiasm and respect for the brand.
